The same technology could be used to help treat periodontal disease! In the early stages of gingivitis, we could reverse the issue with a scaling and root planing, also known as a deep cleaning, removing plaque from the teeth and roots. However, for more advanced stages of the disease, we could trim away and remove diseased portions of the gum tissue, helping better manage the disease and preventing the later stages linked to adult tooth loss.
