Frequently Asked Questions

What are your office hours?

Dr. Leibowitz is in the office from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday and Tuesday, and from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Thursday and Friday. For your convenience, he is open alternate Saturdays, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Do you handle emergencies, even for new patients?

Yes, Dr. Leibowitz is happy to see any patients with dental emergencies. Just call our office at 718-728-8320, and we will work you into our schedule. If you call after hours, Dr. Leibowitz will meet you at his office as soon as possible.

Is your office easy to find?

Our office is conveniently located at 35-04 31st Avenue in Astoria, making it easy for patients from all over NYC to get to our office. We are just a few blocks from the N and R trains, and patients who wish to drive can find street parking in front of, or near, our building.

Are insurances accepted?

Our office policy requires that you pay at the time of service. Dr. Leibowitz accepts most dental insurance plans, but please check with our office before your appointment to see if we accept yours. We are happy to file your claims for you, and our friendly office staff always goes the extra mile to help you maximize your benefits and answer any questions you have about your coverage.

What dental services do you offer?

Dr. Leibowitz offers a full range of dental services so that all of your oral health needs can be met under one roof. Preventive care includes checkups, cleanings, and treatment for TMJ disorder, bruxism, and sleep apnea. He also provides restorative dentistry, which includes fillings, crowns, root canal treatments, and simple tooth extractions. You can even beautify your smile in our Astoria office, with cosmetic services that include gum contouring, teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, and tooth contouring.

How often do I need to visit a dentist?

You should see your Queens general dentist every six months for a routine examination and cleaning to help prevent oral health problems, and to catch any new problems early. Chronic conditions, such as gum disease or dry mouth, may require you to see Dr. Leibowitz more often to stay abreast of your oral health.

Do you offer teeth whitening?

Yes, we offer professional-grade teeth whitening that you can use in the privacy and convenience of your own home. In most cases, wearing your custom whitening trays for just two weeks will result in a dramatically whiter smile.

What can you do to fix my chipped, crowded, or widely-spaced teeth?

Dr. Leibowitz offers three options for correcting teeth imperfections. Tooth contouring and cosmetic bonding can help reshape and cover flaws, giving you straight, white teeth often in just one office visit. Porcelain veneers can also correct the same problems while offering more durability.

What are my alternatives to dentures that slip out of place?

If your dentures slip, Dr. Leibowitz can adjust them for a better fit. Alternatively, he may recommend dental implants if you are a good candidate. Dental implants are titanium rods that help attach a single crown, bridge, or even a full denture securely to the jawbone so that you need not worry about your prosthetics slipping out of place.

You don’t have a hygienist? Who cleans my teeth?

Teeth cleanings are an important aspect of preventive dental visits. Dr. Leibowitz takes this task seriously, and he will actually be the one who tends to your smile when you come in for visits. What this means is that you have your dentist in the room with you and supporting you for the entirety of your appointment, not just when the time comes for your visual review. Having your dentist perform your cleaning can also help you build trust in visits, as you know your oral health care provider is tending to you during every part of your appointment.
