August is coming to a close, which means we’re looking at the beginning of fall. However, there is one last summer festival to take part in and an open run for Astoria, NY, residents happening throughout September. World Underground Festival
The World Underground Festival will take place from Wednesday August 29th through Friday, August 31st. The festival will be located at the Melrose Ballroom in Astoria, NY, (Address: 36-08 33rd Avenue 11106). There will be performances from dozens of great acts, including Azealia Banks, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Dave East, and more.
NYRR Open Run in Astoria Park
Every Saturday from 9am until 10am you can take part in the NYRR Open Run in Astoria Park. The run is open to everyone, regardless of experience or age. You can even bring your dog! The event is hosted by a community-based initiative lead by volunteers. The NYRR Open Run is also operated in coordination with the NYC Parks’ Community Parks Initiative. In addition to Astoria, there will be runs in all five boroughs. The course will be between 2.5 and 3 miles.
If you plan on participating, just arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run. There is no bag check, so you don’t need to bring anything with you. Admission is free and the run will occur at Astoria Park near the track by the bathrooms.
