When a cavity forms you need treatment. Otherwise, your toothache and minor decay could soon lead to more severe pain and a dental infection. Often, we correct the issue by placing a dental filling to return the tooth to full function and health. How do we place a dental filling?
Assess Your Cavities
In most cases, we address the issue with a cosmetic dental filling. First, we remove the decay and thoroughly clean your tooth. We then shade the composite resin to match your tooth. We apply the material and as it cures under a light, we sculpt your tooth. Finally, we polish the tooth for a more natural looking appearance. The entire procedure only takes one sitting and can protect your tooth from worsening decay or the onset of a cavity or abscess.

What If I Need More Than a Filling?
Should the decay be advanced or an infection occur, we may recommend a crown. The restoration fits over the visible portion of the tooth like a cap. We first prepare the tooth by removing structure to make room for the restoration. We then take detailed impressions, which we use to design and create the crown. When you return for your second visit, we check the fit and make any adjustments before placing the crown using a powerful bonding agent.
