We’ve got good news and bad news. Let’s go with the bad news first: If you miss any one essential portion of effective preventive care, you may find yourself dealing with consequences like tooth decay or gum disease. Now for the good news: Practicing exceptional dental hygiene and care for your smile is extremely easily as long as you know what to do. Rather than focusing on what might go wrong, we encourage you to become a master of prevention, recognizing the simple, consistent steps that will preserve the health of your smile and supportive structures.
Brush Those Beautiful Teeth
The number one essential task in keeping your teeth and gums healthy with preventive care is brushing your teeth. Just like your mom or dad told you growing up, you have to brush your teeth every single day. Not just that, but you should be brushing once in the morning and again before bed with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Address every surface of your smile for effective results.
Floss Daily, Too
Been skipping the flossing lately? Don’t! What your toothbrush misses (even with attention to detail) you can easily remove with your floss. Make sure you are flossing once a day by gently bending the floss against the side of your tooth. Then, slide the floss up and down to remove plaque and trapped food debris. Repeat throughout your entire mouth, using a fresh section of your dental floss as you go.
See Us Consistently
Preventive care at home is extremely important – however, the way to make it extremely effective is by following it up with in-office prevention. Schedule a dental cleaning and dental checkup once every six months, so we can remove the plaque that you can’t clear away on your own, and so we may monitor your oral health.
