Dental checkups are an essential part of caring for your smile. Even if you brush and floss properly every day you still need to let a dental professional examine your teeth and gums. Otherwise, potential problems can be allowed to progress until they threaten the health and stability of your smile. If you haven’t scheduled a checkup this summer, consider doing so soon.
Common Questions About Checkups
Question: What if I’m not a current patient?
Answer: If you’re a new patient then you qualify for our Groupon Deal. You can receive an exam and dental cleaning for just $55, typically a $135 value. You can redeem the deal on Mondays or Tuesdays, 10am until 6pm, or on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am until 2pm. If you have any questions, feel free to give our friendly staff a call.
Question: How often do we need dental exams?
Answer: The American Dental Association recommends patients of all ages undergoing routine exams and dental cleanings once every six months. If you have risk factors for gum disease, we may suggest cleanings and checkups once every three to four months.
Question: What happens during the visit?
Answer: The dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and jaw for warning signs of potential trouble. The doctor will also use digital x-rays to obtain clear and detailed images of your smile. We then look for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis or gum disease, oral cancer, TMJ disorder, and bruxism, (teeth grinding). Identifying these problems early can protect your smile from a wide range of serious complications.
Question: Should my teeth be cleaned too?
Answer: Yes. We may also perform a dental cleaning, which removes plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth, reducing gum inflammation and protecting your smile from periodontal disease, as well as bad breath and tooth decay.
