Answer: We recommend endodontic treatment when a patient develops a dental infection or abscess. The procedure allows the doctor to address the problem and prevent the need for a dental extraction. Question: How are they performed?
Answer: First, the doctor must open the tooth and remove the infected tissue. Afterward, the inside of the tooth will need to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. A restorative material known as gutta percha will then be placed inside the tooth. Finally, the doctor completes the procedure by placing a dental crown over the tooth.

Answer: Prior to the procedure the doctor administers a local anesthetic. The patient can then enjoy a more comfortable experience. In fact, many patients find the procedure comparable to receiving a dental filling.
