Do You Have Questions About Dentures?

leibowitz denturesLosing all or most of your teeth can cause problems eating, speaking, or even lead to an older appearance as a result of facial collapse. In order to help protect your smile and improve your oral health, we may suggest a dental prosthetic. Do you have questions about dentures? How does a dental prosthetic work?

Frequently Asked Questions About Dentures

Question: Do dentures mean you’ve lost all of your teeth?

Answer: Not always. Full dentures are used to replace all of the teeth on either one or possibly both arches and are held in place with natural suction. However, if you’ve lost multiple teeth but don’t need a full prosthetic then we can suggest a partial, which is held in place with metal clasps and replaces more than one lost tooth, even if they are spread across an arch.

Question: Do they look natural?

Answer: Yes. Both options use lifelike replacement teeth and an acrylic base designed to mimic the appearance of gum tissue. Both are made using impressions taken of your smile to ensure a comfortable fit and a natural looking appearance. We want you to feel proud of your new teeth.

Question: How long do dentures last?

Answer: That depends on a number of different factors. As the mouth changes shape then your prosthetic may need adjustment or replacement, which can happen once every five to ten years.

Question: How do I take care of my prosthetic?

Answer: We will provide detailed information on caring for your new prosthetics. Like your teeth, they require maintenance to continue to function properly. In addition, taking steps to improve your oral health can help prevent further tooth loss if you have a partial.
