  1. True or False: The procedure will be comfortable.
  2. True or False: We remove the infected tissue completely.
  3. True or False: The tooth will be restored.
  4. True or False: The procedure helps prevent tooth loss.

Answer Key

  1. True. Before we begin the procedure, we will administer a local anesthetic to help you remain comfortable. We will also answer any questions or address any concerns you have as we perform the endodontic procedure.
  2. True. We open the tooth and remove the infected tissue. Afterward, we thoroughly clean the inside of the tooth and the root canals before we place a restorative material inside the tooth. We cure the material and then complete the treatment by placing a cap over the tooth.
  3. True. We will cap the tooth with a natural looking dental crown. Custom-made and shaded to blend with your tooth, the porcelain crown will look lifelike and blend with the rest of your smile. The crowns also protect the tooth from further decay or infection.
  4. True. Without treatment, an infection can grow more severe until the tooth effectively dies. At this point, extraction is necessary to avoid the spread of infection to surrounding teeth or into the jawbone itself. However, by seeing us regularly, we can catch the problem in the early stage and prevent the onset of serious complications.
