When we lose one or more teeth, then our oral health can suffer, as well as the appearance of our smile. Fortunately, we can replace your missing teeth and return your smile to full health, function, and appearance. Do you need prosthetic dentistry? What dental prosthetics do you offer?
Frequently Asked Questions About Prosthetic Dentistry
Question: How does tooth loss impact your smile?
Answer: When we lose teeth, the gaps in our smile can make the onset of misalignment more likely, leading to a greater risk of tooth decay and gum problems (such as gingivitis or gum disease). The pressure tooth loss places on the jawbone can increase the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism. Advanced tooth loss can also make eating more difficult and lead to problems communicating clearly.
Question: When do you need a bridge?
Answer: A bridge is prescribed when a patient is missing between one and three teeth in a row. The replacement teeth have crowns attached to them, which are placed onto the natural teeth on either side of the gap in your smile.
Question: What’s the difference between full and partial dentures?
Answer: A partial denture can address multiple missing teeth spread out across an arch. We use them for cases where a full prosthetic isn’t necessary yet. A metal clasp attaches to the natural teeth, anchoring the new ones in place. A full replaces all of the teeth on one or both arches, providing complete tooth replacement.
Question: How do you place a dental implant?
Answer: A dental implant can replace a single lost tooth, or multiple ones can be placed to secure a dental prosthetic. They will be surgically inserted into the jawbone, where they act as new tooth roots. We then top them with a custom-made restoration to complete the new tooth.
