What is prosthetic dentistry? Simply put, this refers to the placement of a prosthetic to replace one or more missing teeth. Tooth loss is not just a cosmetic concern. Without replacement, your smile can suffer from misalignment; increased risk of dental disease, and you may even take on an aged appearance. However, by restoring your lost teeth you can once again enjoy optimal oral health and function.

Frequently Asked Questions About Prosthetic Dentistry

Question: Do I need a dental bridge?

Answer: A dental bridge can help replace a single missing tooth or multiple teeth, provided they are in a row. The prosthetic will be held in place with crowns, which we place on the natural teeth on either side of the gap in your smile. A bridge can last for 10 to 15 years and may require periodic readjustment.

Question: How do partial dentures work?

Answer: If you multiple missing teeth but don’t need full dentures yet, then you may need partials. With this option we can replace several lost teeth, even if they are spread across the arch. The new teeth will be held in place with metal clasps, which we attach to the natural teeth to secure the prosthetic.

Question: Do full dentures look natural?

Answer: Yes. As with all of our prosthetics, we will take impressions to ensure the new teeth look and function naturally. The new teeth will have a base that mimics gum tissue. They will be held in place with natural suction and/or an adhesive. We can replace all of the teeth on one or both arches.

Question: How long do dental implants last?

Answer: Unlike the others, this option is inserted into the jawbone and bonds with the bone like a natural tooth. On average, they can last as long as 25 years. If you have any questions about replacing lost teeth then contact our office today.
