Have you heard of restorative dentistry? This refers to any procedure designed to return proper function and health to the teeth. From a dental filling to a root canal procedure, dental restoration can protect the health and stability of your smile. Do you need restorative dentistry?

5 Reasons for Receiving Restorative Dentistry

  1. Repairing tooth decay: When a tooth develops a cavity treatment is needed to prevent the onset of an infection or abscess. We can place a filling, in which we use a lifelike metal-free resin to restore teeth. The entire procedure can be completed in a single visit and no one will be able to tell you have a filling.
  2. Fixing broken teeth: If you break a tooth we have a cosmetic and restorative option. The cosmetic option uses dental bonding, a composite resin, to restore missing structure in a single visit. For more serious damage we may place a dental crown. Made from a variety of materials, a crown will restore function to the tooth and withstand powerful bite forces and pressures.
  3. Addressing dental infection: A tooth becomes infected when bacteria reach the inner pulp, the bundle of living tissue in the center of the tooth that keeps the tooth alive and healthy. Bacteria can reach the pulp as a result of advanced decay or injury. With a root canal, we remove the infected tissue and restore the tooth.
  4. Preventing wisdom tooth impaction: As we approach adulthood, four additional molars known as wisdom teeth may erupt. Occassionally, they can become impacted and cause discomfort or even misalignment. With restorative dentistry, we can identify those teeth that may require removal before problems occur.
  5. Replacing a lost tooth: If you lose a tooth we can use dental crowns attached to an artificial tooth to place a dental bridge. The bridge will replace one or more missing teeth in a row.
