January Events In Astoria, NY

We’re abut to start a brand-new year! To celebrate 2018, why not see what fun events are taking place in Astoria? There is always something happening for residents of all ages. In addition, don’t forget that your new insurance benefits will be kicking in soon, so make your first visit of the year in January.

Community Events

  1. Free Creative Writing Classes: The Newtown Literary Alliance is partnering with the Queens Library and the City Council to offer free creative writing classes to writers of all experience levels. The next class takes pace on Saturday, January 6th from 2:30pm until 4:30pm at the Queens Library in Maspeth on 69-70 Grand Avenue. The topic is “Hearing Voices” and the event is free!
  2. Repeater: Sponsored by HIFI Records and hosted by QED Astoria, Repeater with Josh Sharp and Jacob Sharp featuring comedians and performers talking about their favorite song and sharing stories about its impact on them, followed by a band covering the song on stage. The next show takes place on Jnuary 7th at 8:30pm.
  3. LIC Reading Series: The LIC Reading Series’ next event will take place on January 9th from 8pm until 10pm. Admission is free and this event feature readings from acclaimed writers Gabe Habash, Min Jin Lee, and Joan Silber.
  4. Work It Panel: The Astoria Bookshop will be hosting panel on women in business, featuring guest speakers Mackenzie Farquer, Tina Stipanovic, and Carrie Kerpen. Carrie Kerpen recently released the book Work It: Secrets for Success From the Boldest Women in Business. The event takes place on January 10th from pm until 8pm.
