Oral Cancer Screenings

In addition to causing lung and heart diseases, smoking can hurt your smile in multiple ways. The most visible is discoloration. Tobacco usage can lead to yellow or brown stains on your teeth that can’t be removed by brushing and flossing alone. Instead, you will need cosmetic solutions, such as professional teeth whitening ands porcelain veneers.

The more serious consequence is oral cancer. Smoking can increase the risk of developing oral cancer. According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, nearly 43, 250 people are diagnosed with this disease every year. Unfortunately, of that number nearly half will succumb to the disease within five years. The reason? In most cases, the issue isn’t diagnosed until the late stages. To prevent this, we offer oral cancer screenings as part of our routine checkups. We will watch for the earliest warning signs, so you can being treatment before the cancer cancer can progress, increasing the chances of a full recovery.
