Common Questions About Cosmetic Veneers

Question: How are they placed?

Answer: First, the doctor must prepare the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel. Detailed impressions will then be taken of the teeth. At a dental lab, an expert ceramist will fabricate the restoration. Once complete, the patient returns to the office. The doctor will check the fit and make any adjustments before finally placing the thin layer of porcelain onto the front of the tooth with a powerful bonding agent.

Question: What esthetic concerns can they address?

Answer: They are made from lifelike porcelain and be used to mask teeth stains, misshapen teeth, and to correct the appearance of minor alignment problems. We can also use them to close any gaps between the teeth and lengthen worn down teeth. The porcelain material is also strong and stain-resistant, helping your smile remain esthetically pleasing.

Question: Can dental bonding be a cost-effective alternative?

Answer: In some cases, we may suggest bonding to mask stains or reshape teeth, particularly those closer to the back of the mouth. With bonding, we employ composite resin to improve the tooth’s appearance in a single visit.

Question: How do I maintain my new restorations?

Answer: You should continue to brush and floss from home. In addition, we suggest having your teeth cleaned and examined. We actually have a Groupon special for new patients that offers a checkup and cleaning for only $55, typically a $135 cost.
