FAQs: Which Cosmetic Treatments Do You Need?

What is cosmetic dentistry? This refers to procedures designed purely to address esthetics, removing discoloration and correcting other cosmetic issues. Which cosmetic treatments will you need? We have an array of treatments available to help improve the attractiveness of both your teeth and your gums.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Treatment

Question: How does your professional teeth whitening work?

Answer: First, we will create a set of plastic trays. We then prescribe a bleaching gel. The patient takes the trays and gel home, filling the trays and wearing them for between one and two hours a day. Optimal results can take between one and two weeks to achieve, but your smile can often be brightened by multiple shades.

Question: When do you recommend placing veneers?

Answer: We can use veneers to reshape teeth, close gaps between teeth, mask discoloration that may not respond to teeth whitening, and to correct the appearance of minor misalignment. Treatment involve placing one or more custom veneers, which are shells of porcelain, onto the front of the teeth. They completely change the shade and shape of the teeth in the process.

Question: What does gum contouring do?

Answer: We can use gum contouring to remove excessive gum tissue and to reshape the gum line, which can improve the beauty of your teeth. A “gummy smile” can mean teeth appear small or uneven.

Question: Can you address misalignment?

Answer: Yes! We can do so with a series of clear plastic aligners. The ClearCorrect system can reposition the teeth and help you enjoy a straighter and more esthetically-pleasing smile. Treatment takes about a year and the system can help older teens and adults enjoy improved oral health. If you have any questions about our clear aligners, or any of our other cosmetic treatments, then please contact our office today.
